The North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner is seeking for up to nine independent custody visitors volunteers to act as custody watchdogs to police the police. Their role will be to safeguard the welfare of people detained by the police and ensure their rights are upheld.

(NWAMI) Networking for World Awareness for Multicultural Integration is a community interest group raising awareness of multicultural integration through education and cultural engagement. They are looking for bookkeeper/admin volunteer assistant to keeping the accounts - electronically (on line) so the role might be performed from home as well as at NWAMI office in Colwyn Bay. Tasks will include filing, answering incoming phone calls. Reception duties as daily picture changes with respect to Covid-19 restrictions. Support and guidance will be provided, out of pocket expenses e.g. travel met and induction training given. Food and drink provided as appropriate. Basic IT skills will be useful for this role; verbal and written communication skills also beneficial.

PAPYRUS - Prevention of Young Suicide needs your help to create suicide safer communities across North Wales. Become PAPYRUS Champion Volunteer to deliver short sessions to improve awareness, knowledge and understanding of suicide and self harm within your local community in North Wales, with a focus on those under 35 years of age. Champions also help out at events such as PRIDE, mental health market places. If you like meeting new people and speaking publicly then this opportunity could be for you. They are looking for friendly individuals over 18 years of age who are confident around new people, have good listening skills, ability to show sensitivity around the subject of suicide and to show empathy.

We fully understand that the planned training programme and activities are likely to be stilted somewhat because of Covid -19. However, recruiting process and training volunteer champions can start despite the restrictions. There are many tasks that can be completed from the safety of your own home. These include telephoning and emailing friends, community groups, local schools, youth groups, sports groups etc. to tell them about PAPYRUS helpline, training and resources. It may even be possible for you to deliver a short on-line awareness raising session.

Mencap is the leading voice of learning disability determined to create a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included by changing attitudes, providing services and influencing those who can help change the lives of people with a learning disability. You can support them by becoming Charity Shop Volunteer Retail Assistant in the recently reopened store in Colwyn Bay. You can expect to do a number of different things, including serving customers on the till, taking donations, welcoming customers to the store and sorting/pricing stock. The store has been fitted with protective screens at the till and PPE such as gloves, masks and aprons are available for all volunteers. There is access to sanitising gel for customers and volunteers and plenty of social distancing guidelines in store. Reasonable volunteer expenses will be reimbursed and full training will be given. If you are friendly and enjoy being with different types of people then this would be a great volunteer role for you.
