Pentrecelyn School

Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm Fund is set up to support communities in the area of benefit but also to support projects by schools in the area.

In December 2021 the panel approved an application by Ysgol Pentrecelyn to build an outside covered multifunction structure on the school yard.

As a small rural Welsh medium school with 32 children, they have an open gate policy when it comes to the community using their facilities as there is no playground in the villages of Pentrecelyn, Graigfechan or Rhydymeudwy to use.

This resource will be very useful to the school for conducting outdoor lessons, but more than that it will be a resource where the community can come to hold meetings, workshops, Sunday School, Cylch Ti a Fi or even just come over to relax and enjoy.

The school and community hope that they will be able to establish a Cylch Meithrin in the school, and the outside building will be a very valuable resource for doing so.

This is a great example of a project that really demonstrates community spirit and collaboration. Many of the parents volunteered their time for this project. The volunteers were skilled construction workers and one volunteer had also provided architectural designs for the scheme.

"We are extremely grateful for your help. It has enabled us to create a beautiful outdoor classroom with wonderful views. We will be able to take advantage of it in all weathers. It will be very useful for the community to hold meetings and a suitable place for the Chapel and Sunday School.”
